Easter!

I love holidays! It's always so exciting to celebrate and spend it with family. It's too bad that we don't get longer off, but oh well...guess that's what happens when you get out of college! Although, I'm really jealous of all the spring breakers right now! I want to go somewhere too!

Friday was great because I had the day off! Lynsey, Tyler, and I met Michael and his work friends for lunch. That was fun, and I can't believe how cute Tyler is. He is now saying lots of words and it's super cute! That night, Michael and I ended up finishing our sanding on the cabinets. I really like the effect of it. Here's a picture once they were painted black, and then one with the sanding... We now only have the clear coat to put on and then hang the doors! I can taste the finish line.

Sat, Michael worked and I got some things done. That night, we headed to Horton. It was fun to hang out with the family. Too bad it's always a rushed trip. We had Easter lunch at my Aunt's house after church and then headed to Michael's parents. We had another good meal there! It was a good day with lots of goodies!

Work, play, and lots of picts...

Well, we are still working on our kitchen. I was hoping to report that the kitchen is finished, but no...maybe this weekend. Thursday, we had a company happy hour. Then, Dana and I headed to Sarah's house for a pampering party. It was fun to be pampered!

Friday, Michael and I painted the cabinets red. Dana stopped by to see our progress and bring over margaritas to help! She ended up distracting us enough to go to Foobar's again and watch some great karaoke. It was hilarious! It was a much needed break.

Sat, my mom and sister were in town. Kelsey was searching for a prom dress, which she succeeded in. It looks great on her, even if I'm mad that she's a size two! They stopped by and picked Michael and I up for lunch. We at at Johnny Carino's, which was good. That evening, Michael and I went to JT's in Desoto for Jeff James' b-day party. It was lots of fun hanging out with everyone.

Sunday, we went over to Michael's friend Steve's house. They have people over every year to go watch the Shawnee St. Patty's parade. It was fun, but cold out. Afterwards, we hung out back at their house. Michael found his new love: guitar hero II. After he got beat by an eight year old, he vowed to buy the game, practice, and make a comeback. We'll see about that... Sunday night, we waxed and painted the cabinet frames black. We were up late again, but they look good after two coats. Monday night, we then sanded the edges and places that should look "worn." That took awhile, but has a great effect with the red showing through. We still need to paint the cabinet doors black and sand them. That's on the agenda for tomorrow and Friday night. Fun stuff. I'll be soooo glad when this is done!

Tonight, Dana and I went to the NAIA tournament downtown. Kornitzer Capital Management and Buffalo Funds are big sponsors for it. We made t-shirts to wear for the game!

Productive Weekend...

Friday night I was invited to fill in again at bunco from Lynsey. It was a lot of fun and good to hang out with the girls! Afterwards, I met up with Dana and we just had a couple drinks at a hole-in-the wall bar close to where we live. It’s called Foobar’s…it was fun. It’s a small, fun place with a live band every other Friday and karaoke on the other Fridays. I would go back again. Michael had a “guy’s night” over at a friend’s house. I’m sure he had fun doing manly things!

The rest of the weekend was very productive. Sat, Michael and I decided to get some things done. Furniture Deals called and said our table was available for us to pick it up. So, we headed to Belton to go get it. Once we got home, we started to put it together. That was an adventure. The table was missing a piece, so we had to go to ace hardware to find the correct thing. Once we got the table done, then we had to start putting together the eight chairs that go with it. Let me tell you, I feel that I am a professional at building chairs now! Once again, we ran into a problem…the holes on one leg of a chair were opposite of what they should be. Luckily, my wonderful husband is very handy and skilled. He ended up drilling the holes that we needed on it. Even though it took us most the day to get the table set and put it together, it looks really good!

Sunday, we got up and went to church. Afterwards, we brought our old table over to Moran and Jason’s house. Also, Lola came along for the ride. She had a great time playing with their two dogs! We’ll have to do that more often.

After debating on what to do with the rest of the day, we decided to go ahead and paint the kitchen. It was a pretty big project, but ended up with a great look. We ended up completely done after several trips to Walmart, and with everything put away around two in the morning! I’m super tired today, but well worth the lack of sleep. Now, our next project is the cabinets. We hope to start them this week and finish on the weekend…we’ll see how it goes. I’m not going to share any of the painting picts until you can see the kitchen completely done!

Ready for Spring...

Friday, I met Michael and some of the guys he works with out for happy hour. One of them brought his wife, so it was nice to have a girl there! It was a good low-key night.

Sat, Dana and I went shopping! I needed some things for spring....I'm so tired of this cold weather. It was great to have a couple nice days, even if it was crazy windy! Anyways, I found several cute clothes that I can't wait to wear once it turns nice out again. That evening, Michael, Dana, and I went over to our friend Lisa's house. She had a small party and we had a lot of fun just hanging out.

Sunday, Michael and I bought a new kitchen table! I'm super excited...I've had this one picked out for almost a year. It won't be in for a couple weeks, so you'll have to wait for pictures of it until then! Yea, more grown-up furniture for us! That evening, we headed over to Jason and Morgan's new house. The just got the keys on Friday night. They had been working on it all weekend. It looks great and I'm excited to be close to their house!
